Nunu Seeing Blake Griffin Dunk On/Over Perkins For The First TIme (*For real basketball fans*)

*ONLY FOR REAL BASKETBALL HEADS* Something tells me only they will understand this video.

I remember how crazy I got last year when I saw this beast’s trilogy of dunks last year on The Knicks. And so, this is a video of me watching Blake’s dunk on Perkins FOR THE FIRST TIME. I recorded this last night on four hours sleep. I’m not sure what purpose this video serves, but I am happy I recorded this moment and get to have it for the rest of my life. Self-serving? Maybe. However, if it makes you laugh or smile, then I think/guess it did its job.

P.S. This is how happy basketball makes me. Let me know if you got crazy too. I couldn’t have been the only one. .

P.P.S. …Poor Kendrick.

My Letter to The Greatest – Happy 70th Birthday Champ!

“Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they’ve been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It’s an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It’s a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”
― Muhammad Ali

As-Salamu Alaykum Muhammad Ali,

Because of you, my dad loved to box as a young boy growing up in Dodoma, Tanzania. He loved to fight wherever and whenever he could.  There would be days that he would come home after days in the gym with black eyes.  One week he would have a shiner on his left eye. After the left eye would heal, he would have a shiner to his right.

This adoration for fighting began when the kids in the town would pick on him and call him names because his family was not as affluent as theirs were.  The poor condition of his clothes made this apparent. The kids would call him “fatiloh-peetcho”, which meant “torn-pockets” because his parents could not afford buying him new shorts.  Instead of feeling down about his circumstances, he would fight the kids that teased him.  He took up boxing at the local gym and applied the skills he learned to the fights he would have.  Eventually, the kids in the town stop teasing him about his clothes.  I guess they figured it would hurt them too much to do so.

As he grew older, he inherited the role of being a bodyguard of sorts for the less fortunate kids who shared a similar upbringing to his, becoming infamous for beating up bullies in his town that picked on these kids that could not defend for themselves.  And in similar fashion, the bullying stopped too.

Fast forward – the fights stopped, but he never stopped fighting.  He recently celebrated his 60th birthday, lives in a suburb outside of Toronto with his beautiful wife who has been married to for over 30 years, and has two kids. One is a successful engineer and married to a beautiful teacher, and the other is near graduating university pursuing a hopefully prominent career in media.

I tend to take from my mother more than my father.  My father is a handsome man, but my mom has stayed pretty. She is so pretty.  And with every situation I find myself in, I approach it by telling myself , “I’m sooo pretty.” Now, I may not be as strong or as violent as my father was, but I am a fighter. I fight well. And in this ring we call ‘Life’, I fight just as good as he does, if not better.  We have you and God to thank for that. After all, we did learn from The Greatest.

Happy 70th Birthday Champ! May you be blessed with many very happy returns! Ameen!

You are The Greatest.  Thank you for being The Greatest.

Salam,

Nunu

Gang rape investigation could take ‘a long time,’ police say

The perfect sized purse knife.

http://www.thestar.com/news/article/1113041

Please pass this article (link above) on to any females you know who work in around the Yonge|Dundas|Gerard area at night, or studies till late at Ryerson University. Tell them to please be mindful, and to please be careful.

My recommendation/Here’s what I would tell them (take it or leave it):

Perhaps it’s best to cary a whistle, some pepper spray, or hold on to something sharp in your purse if you are walking home in and around the area alone at night (the knife in the picture above, seems rather fitting).

If I were a woman, though I would be G, this is what I would do. If anyone came at me like any of these dudes, I’d cut a bitch. Simple. I’d try my hardest to aim for these bitches nuts. Left nut, right nut, I don’t give a F…. I’d cut him good, and I’d cut him well. Most importantly, while doing all this cutting, I would be loud as phuck to cause a scene that would give just enough time for someone to notice and contact the authorities just in case they did manage to get me in their van.

They say snitches are bitches, but I’d snitch on these bitches. If you see a black minivan with any of these disgusting people inside of it, and it’s parked? Slash their tires, then run. Run with your cell phone in one hand and holding something sharp in the other. Just in case you have to do a run and cut.

To every female who works in this area at night, and to every female Ryerson student who studies till late, you are are strong and fearless. Stay hood, and stay Gucci. Peace.

Eavesdropping & Rape – Brothers from Another Mother

My #RTA hommie @DEADHORSEBEATS shared the above on Facebook.  And so, did you know? In the United States of America, recording a law official without their consent is considered eavesdropping. Here’s the most fascinating thing though, Rape is considered just as bad as eavesdropping with having the same sentence time of 75 years. Can you believe that? Yes, that’s right – let your jaw drop as far as it can.

Let us consider the implications of this law.  Imagine a cop beats up your hommie, whips out his thang and starts urinates on them.  Obviously, you’re gonna try your best to interfere.  Ok maybe not if he’s pulled it out, however you’d do something before it got to that point. But c’mon.  Ten bucks says officer ‘so & so’ has his peoples with him, and these peoples’ nightsticks don’t like the friends of people getting beaten up by their owner’s colleague.  Just that simple.  And lets you do get a whack to your leg from one of these nightsticks and end up on the ground. And let’s just say the only thing you can do is reach for your phone and start recording the injustice that is taking place.  Well, too bad. That’s against the law.  You can’t do ish.  In fact, it’s against the law to do anything.

Now consider this: if you saw a cop, in his cruiser engaging in a sexual act with someone, let alone a prostitute, and you pulled out your DSLR to film it in HD? Although you might have a pretty neat Youtube video that would make you a little bit of money through Youtube’s ad share, you can still get put away in jail for as long as someone who has been convicted of rape.

Now I’m not one to ever judge, but this has to be one of the MOST TWISTED and bizarre things of our time.  Agreed? K. Just checking.

Light To Dark

I Just peeped this video for Light To Dark off of Jesse Boykins III’s EP Way of a Wayfarer for the first time. It was my summer jam back in July and it’s dope to see how the visuals turned out. If you don’t know  Jesse Boykins III & The Beauty Created, then try and do so. And If you’re into eclectic soulful sounds, then he might just help your experience out a little bit more. This is one cool dude on of his really iLLL records. Enjoy.

Sinden Feat Jesse Boykins III – High Demand (Radio Rip) by Sinden

“Choose Happiness.” Good Practice.

A few days ago, a friend of mine @tamaranikic of http://arainbowintheclouds.com/ posted the article below on Facebook.  The post is from the blogsite http://beyondtheopposites.com.  I read it, and shortly after shared it.  I shared it because I find it to be extremely powerful.   I’ve never visited the blogsite before.  The sight talks about “living right spiritually,” so I am sure I will be re-visiting there soon.  I like stuff like this.  Feeling warm inside is good.

The post is written by a man named Bronnie Ware.  Bronnie is an elder who spent many years working in palliative care.  His patients were terminally ill and he spent the last two to three weeks of their life with them.   Here is what he learned when he questioned them about if they had any regrettes and or would have done anything differently in their lives.

I sent this to my parents.  Maybe you might do the same.  After you read this you’ll know it’s not too late for them to read something like this.

Top Five Regrets of the Dying

by Bronnie Ware

For many years I worked in palliative care. My patients were those who had gone home to die. Some incredibly special times were shared. I was with them for the last three to twelve weeks of their lives.
People grow a lot when they are faced with their own mortality. I learned never to underestimate someone’s capacity for growth. Some changes were phenomenal. Each experienced a variety of emotions, as expected, denial, fear, anger, remorse, more denial and eventually acceptance. Every single patient found their peace before they departed though, every one of them.
When questioned about any regrets they had or anything they would do differently, common themes surfaced again and again. Here are the most common five:

1. I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me
This was the most common regret of all. When people realize that their life is almost over and look back clearly on it, it is easy to see how many dreams have gone unfulfilled. Most people have had not honored even a half of their dreams and had to die knowing that it was due to choices they had made, or not made.

It is very important to try and honor at least some of your dreams along the way.

From the moment that you lose your health, it is too late. Health brings a freedom very few realize, until they no longer have it.

2. I wish I didn’t work so hard
This came from every male patient that I nursed. They missed their children’s youth and their partner’s companionship.

Women also spoke of this regret. But as most were from an older generation, many of the female patients had not been breadwinners. All of the men I nursed deeply regretted spending so much of their lives on the treadmill of a work existence.
By simplifying your lifestyle and making conscious choices along the way, it is possible to not need the income that you think you do. And by creating more space in your life, you become happier and more open to new opportunities, ones more suited to your new lifestyle.

3. I wish I’d had the courage to express my feelings
Many people suppressed their feelings in order to keep peace with others. Many developed illnesses relating to the bitterness and resentment they carried as a result.

As a result, they settled for a mediocre existence and never became who they were truly capable of becoming.

We cannot control the reactions of others. However, although people may initially react when you change the way you are by speaking honestly, in the end it raises the relationship to a whole new and healthier level. Either that or it releases the unhealthy relationship from your life. Either way, you win.

4. I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends
Often they would not truly realize the full benefits of old friends
until their dying weeks and it was not always possible to track them down. Many had become so caught up in their own lives that they had let golden friendships slip by over the years. There were many deep regrets about not giving friendships the time and effort that they deserved. Everyone misses their friends when they are dying.

It is common for anyone in a busy lifestyle to let friendships slip. But when you are faced with your approaching death, the physical details of life fall away. People do want to get their financial affairs in order if possible. But it is not money or status that holds the true importance for them. They want to get things in order more for the benefit of those they love. Usually though, they are too ill and weary to ever manage this task. It is all comes down to love and relationships in the end. That is all that remains in the final weeks, love and relationships.

5. I wish that I had let myself be happier
This is a surprisingly common one.

Many did not realize until the end that happiness is a choice.

They had stayed stuck in old patterns and habits. The so-called ‘comfort’ of familiarity overflowed into their emotions, as well as their physical lives. Fear of change had them pretending to others, and to their selves, that they were content. When deep within, they longed to laugh properly and have silliness in their life again.
When you are on your deathbed, what others think of you is a long way from your mind. How wonderful to be able to let go and smile again, long before you are dying.

Life is a choice. It is YOUR life. Choose consciously, choose wisely, choose honestly. Choose happiness.

New Facebook Right Around the Corner…Again

Here's what my new profile page looks like. If you're a dude, don't poke this. That's not homophobic, it's mad uncomfortable.

If you haven’t checked out the new Facebook Timeline, check it out here.  It’s pretty cool. I know how some of your minds stay feeble when it comes to change, and I hate to sound cliche, but this is one change you might want to consider embracing.

With Timeline, what Facebook has done is convert your entire Facebook into giant digital scrapbook. You can now go and check out all of your old status changes, reconnect with lost memories, and personal mind states and feelings you might have been in when you posted the status.  Basically, beware of your own ‘emo’ moments.  Jussaying. Uggghhh. Don’t judge.

Now, this could be something cool, or it could not. Whatevs. I think it’s dope (that’s why it’s on my blog.  See where I’m going with this?). In fact, it’s so cool that I’ve been playing with it for almost a month now and thought it was cool enough post as my first post for my blogging comeback.  Mind you this is just one of my many blogging comebacks, but still.  It’s cool.  I scrolled down and searched for my first ever status change in September of 2006 and it was ‘Sleeping’. I know, creepy right?

Read more about it here.

Here is the intro for the Facebook keynote’s Address at F8 by Andy Sandberg.  Unlike most SNL sketches, this is kind of funny:

And let the nerd in you watch the entire keynote address given by Mark and his digital crew. I let mine watch it.  Mind you, I dozed off a couple of times watching this in my bed, however if you let your inner nerd take over, you’ll find it pretty interesting.  Check it out:

So…

So, here’s the deal – consider this my attempt at starting back up. I’m doing it little by little. Don’t judge. K? Cool.

getTOknow Che Kothari – Ten Minutes w/Che {Sat-On-Footage}

Last year, at the 2010 ManifesTO Canada Pro Breakdancing Championships I ran into a ninja by the name of Che Kothari. Che is a the NINJA. I say ninja because that’s just what Che is.  A muhphkn NINJA.  His vision is deep and elaborate.  He has an idea of how dope the world is with the world of arts and culture.  He does it through Hipm Hop in its most organic form.   I love this man, and what he’s done for the city with ManifesTO. Take a glimpse into the mind of Che Kothari.

Tyler Boy Tank – Fayettenam Star

Tank Tyler – Remember him? Well, brother @FreshLike88 put me on to his mixtape Fayettenam Star.  I really didn’t know what to expect. I copped it off DatPiff – You can get it here.  Turned out the ting is not bad.  One of my guilty pleasures is Trap Music. Yeah I might be all about peace to the world, love with all your heart, look and speak fresh, but one of my guilty pleasures is good ol’igggnant Trap music. I can’t listen to all night, but give me a little set in the dance, and put a Coors Light in my hand, and I might just get buck.  If you’re a fan of Trap Music, cop de ting and give it a listen. Fayettenam Star will get you started right if you’re heading to the gym. ‘Hurt’ might make you break something or someone who’s been making your life stressful. God forbid the lady you in bed with if you hear this, she won’t be able to walk straight for ‘bout a day and half after the fact. Eeeks. Be careful.

Tank Tyler is not only a Fayettenam Star, but he’s a North Carolina BEAST. He goes hard on his debut mixtape. Flows right, beats tight. Put it in your pod and give it a listen.

Peep homeboy’s new video below.

Canada Weekend

Now that life has slowed down a tad bit. Let me reacquaint myself with my brightest summer memories.  They will be the best memories.Canada Day weekend was on some next level tings. Literally, I got in touch with many peoples who are doing their thing, and was fortunate enough to have a sobering experience at one of my most inebriated outings.  No lie.  I consumed Hennesy and it was a baaaaad decision.  I became overwhelmed with anger over an instance, which I could have practiced a bit more cool with.Nonetheless the ish happen. You live, and you learn, and cot dammit I am a better man now.  I know that never again will be on that dark stuff again.  I apologize to whomever I was a moron too that night.  It wasn’t me.  I truly feel I was possessed.   And well, I spent the next couple of days performing an excorsist on myself.  It proved to be a success because I am blogging now.  Note to all who read this: I don’t blog when I’m under the influence of a demon.  #jussayin.

In other news, I was fortunate as well to have reconnected with fam who came up from Miami. @FreshLike88 came up and did his ‘thing’ in the city of multicultural love, and provided myself with some rather fine distractions.  Ughhhh #Pause.  The man partys, and he partys well. I was just there. That is all. Lol

Moreover, he brought up with him an artist that he’s working with @TylerboyTank.  Asides from being a rather large human being, all I knew was that Tyler was a recent signing to the Chicago Bears and that he was an artist who performed music.  What kind of music he performed I wasn’t too sure of.  I just knew from the size of his chain and rather large diamond encrusted tank shaped medallion, the music he performs just HAD to be from an urban sub genre. The man is massive, he’s an artist and he performs music.  How cliché I thought.

Together, along with a group of us (@SherrineD, @KonFliCtedOne, and @TinaOooh, and Janielle McCoy ), partied like the stars they were, and the one I guess I’m aspiring to be. lol I went to the Lost Boatride, which was dope during the day, and we all met up for the legendary ABC Boat Ride.

We had a ball. Russell Peters left his jokes aside, and focused on being the DJ to a sold out Enterprise Boat. Dope. He did not upset.  If you’re too young to remember the Mastermind Street Jam on Saturdays, then you probably just know him for his jokes. And to you I say tough shit. The man can PLAY.  And play well. It truly was a surreal experience on water. The night was magic.  I two-stepped. I bubbled. I felt alive. I got Amnesia.  I am grateful.

Fresh. Spring.

Progress in progress...

I know I should be blogging much more, but such has not been the case since an early January.  You see, I’m still in school.  I go to class. I learn.  I better myself.  However, sometimes I don’t better myself in areas others would have preferred me to better myself in.  As much as I have tried, my progress falls on blind eye.

I’m not sure as to why.  It just does.  Now perhaps, that could just be me.  Actually, I’m pretty sure it’s me.  I was being soft and sensitive, and well, a lot of outside events got to me.  School being the major portion, and well other parts of life struck a cord with me that I wasn’t quite used to hearing.

I’ve heard that cord before, however it has been a long while since I remembered what to do when I hear it.  Now, I’m a bit older now.  So naturally my attention has been focusing on other things, which I felt have more of an impact on my life. Assignments, tests, exams, presentations, readings, – all these things, one after another.  It all consumed me.  It took over the way I think things through.  It disabled my personality and character to bring about true warmth in the lives of the people I love dearly.  I’m not one to truly know the art of self control – I try as best as I can – but couldn’t do so as well as all of you had like me to.

And for all of this, I am sorry. I take full responsibility for every offence you have taken to my words or my actions.  I have been a bit rigid, and my priorities were skewed along with it.  I can’t really describe the stress; I just know it was there. Feel me? My bad, sorry.

So I’m here now to let you all know I am back. I am back and it feels dope.  I wish I could share this energy with others I really want to share it with, but unfortunately that time has not come, or may never come again.  All I know is, I’m back.  More dope.

I’m making the conscious effort to make myself better.  And thus, I have hopes I can make our world better.  I hope in the coming months you feel what I’m doing.  I hope you will enjoy the work.  I hope you will come back for more.  And what I really hope is that you will tell your friends about this ish I’m doing because got damn! I’m trying to get paid, in full, perhaps a deal of some sorts, you know something more.  But most importantly, as mentioned, I want you to have fun and enjoy yourself as much as I am with whatever I share with you.  And maybe, we’ll enjoy this place together.  Cool?  Dope.

Expect lots to come this summer from the Peoplemakingmagic area.  Lots of laughs will be arriving shortly.  Also, I will be posting random thoughts of things which might make me feel deep ….just so I may feel deeper….and so you may feel I am bit deeper…and not just a goof…who thoroughly enjoys making you laugh…lots…and then you will become deeper if you aren’t already…then perhaps you can go to another level (not higher or lower), but another level, and you will enjoy yourself there. More cool?

Till next post….

Peaceandlove!

The Grace Project: SICK

I am certainly not one to write theatre reviews.  On second thought, I don’t think I am one to write any kind of reviews.  Perhaps, maybe if you gave me a solid mixtape I might conjure up a few feelings in a structured format to call it a ‘review’. [And in that case I will tell you to download Theophilus London’s “I Want You” mixtape. It is definitely the buckness!] Errrr. The fact is – I’m a blogger.  Nothing more.  Nothing less.  I got love for the experience.  Good or bad.  I put words down about whatever experience occurs, and hope those words can make sense of the world you and I share. In some cases the event that transpires brings clarity to my reality.

Like Sick! Last Friday the lady and myself went to see Sick! In all honesty, I only wanted to go to show love and support to my home girl Domanique Grant.  She is in the production and I thought that it would be nice to see her do her thing on stage, acting and not singing.

It went down like this….

Ms. Grant sent me a BBM that was actually a mass broadcasted message. Then she personalized it and sent it to me. (LOL!) Nonetheless, she tweaked the message enough for me to see that she goes out of her way to connect with me.  I rate that about a certain few of my friends; the ones that go out of their way to connect with me.  Fat shout to all of you! If you have them in your life, then show them your love as much as possible. They are healthy for you. I digress, but in the message she described what the play was about and inserted links to reviews of the show.  I skimmed through the message in a brisk scroll to the bottom.  I didn’t pay much attention to what she described and didn’t visit any of the links, but in the end she asked me to come out.  I complied. [I’m all about supporting her because I believe in the work she does. I find her body of music rather inspiring and of a higher standard of quality.  Plus, she’s a dope friend.] We then caught up some more. Eventually, we got back to the work we were doing prior to reconnecting.

That evening the lady and I attended the show.  How little did I know what we were in for.

Simply put, The Fringe Festival’s The Grace Project: Sick was SICK! Period. From start to finish, the play grabs a hold of you by exploring yours and the human conscious. You are sick; I am sick; we all are sick.  The true question is – how well do you battle your illness?

I don’t really want to get any deeper into the play because I really don’t want my opinion to affect what you might think of the play.  As its final weekend approaches with 4 shows left, all I have left to say is don’t miss out on this opportunity to check out a powerful show.  It definitely won’t be out on DVD anywhere or anytime soon, and it’s not like you can grab a bootleg from Pac Mall or download it from any site.  Just go and see Sick! Trust me, it will be that good for you.

Here’s what credible people had to say about The Grace Project: Sick! :

Just Cause.

Duane Bobbsemple and Harold Uyguangco are a two friends in the city who started something yesterday, which I feel strongly about.  Do something kind, randomly, once a day, for the next 12 days.  Simple.

And just think of what kind of place we would be living in if, let’s say 57% of the city’s inhabitants took up this challenge.  Just think. Wholly shit it would be bananas! Imagine wherever you go in the city, a door is opened for you by a random person.  They greet you with a smile after you thank them, and then, they wish you a good day.  Wow! I don’t know bout you, but sounds like a city I would enjoy living in…despite how cold it might get.

Here’s another one.  You’ve been on your feet all day.  Shopping, going from class to class, or just running errands and you use the train to head back home.  One thing though, it’s packed! Standing room only! “Sheeeeeeit!” Might just be the first thing that comes to your mind.  Now, imagine a random person gets up and says, “buddy you look like you’ve been having a hard day.  Here, have a seat. You look like you can use it.”  =O Are you kidding me? Wouldn’t that make you feel like the most awesomest person in the world? Like really. No REALLY! If anyone reading this ever sees this happen, give that random man/woman/child/elder one a very large HIGH FIVE! And make it count.  Like get up in there.  Really make the palms connect with a nice slap, as if this person tied the ball game to take your team into overtime for another chance at victory.  They deserve it! Really. A nice slap!

I’m not sure about anyone else, and I’m not trying in any way to ‘toot my own horn’, but whenever I’m aware I try to do something like this everyday anyway.  I’m not sure why; I just do; just cause. I guess for me the reason I do one is because it’s fun.  In a sick and kind sort of way, I like seeing the peculiar expressions that arise on people’s faces when it happens.  The confused look always says something like “did he just do that? Why?!? What for?!?” Well you know what? I did it! And I did it just cause! Deal with it. Take it for it’s worth and enjoy! That’s it! Just enjoy.

I encourage you to try it. You might just like it.

So back to studying for me, but before I leave, an extremely obesely FAT SHOUT goes out to Duane Bobbsemple and Harold Uyguangco not only for their Beauties party =) (shameless plug), but for being peoplemakingmagic, and most importantly, for coming up with such a brilliantly simple idea of reminding people that being kind is cool. Dope. And really, it’s ish like this that made me start a blogsite in the first place. Cheers fellas and God Bless you two and your movement!

Boona Mohammed: poet/ninja.

In this world there are fighters, haters, and warriors.  All have their own individual reasons for living the way they chose to.  Some do it for mental stability, and some, well, some are just born that way.  And then, there are the world’s NINJAS! Just as any other emotion and human feelings have workers working for it, Love has its ninjas; and Boona Mohammed is definitely one of them.

I first met Boona in my first year in Radio & Television Arts at Ryerson University.  I feel honoured to call him a friend.  Though he has stayed the same height, it is truly amazing to have watched him grow in to the ninja he is today.  His deeper wisdom and humour are quite stealth and cunning, which make his ninja tactics almost impossible to guard against.

Watch the video above of his recent performance at TEDxToronto.  Fat shout goes out to Boona Mohammed! Definitely one of Toronto’s peoplemakingmagic.

For this holiday season come Funk My Soul

It is that that time of the year again.  The Holidays are just around the corner, and it’s time to have some fun without feeling guilty because damn it – you deserve some fun once in a while in your life.

The best way to start any celebrating is to get in tune with your spirit. After that has been taken care of, go deeper.  For the last three years, I begin my holidays with the goal of trying to Funk My Soul. I’m not sure I succeed or not, but I sure as hell enjoy attempting to do so.  Yuh dig?

Try to get your early bird tix because it makes sense to.  With ‘Scratch’ and DJ Carlos playing the whole night, you’re probably already thinking about  attending.  No sense in paying extra ‘loot’ at the door, when you could use it at the bar. Just saying.

For more info on the night and where to access tix, visit http://www.jonjay.ca/

Quinntyne Brown Photography

Definitely one of my favorite photographers in the city  (not just because he’s taken some of the best pictures of me). I remember when he was just coming up, shooting at parties; hustling, doing his thing.  However, now QB has taken his art to another level. His ability to capture emotions, and an individual’s style at such particularizing moments separates him from the herd. His new blog will give you an idea of just what it is I’m trying to get at. From time-to-time, I might just borrow some of his pics.  FAT SHOUT goes out to ‘QB’, as he is certainly one the city’s People Making Magic. Gettoknowphotographer Quinntyne Brown.

Black Thought {ManifesTO 2010}

Black Thought of The legendary Roots Crew.  Cool dude. Right from the beginning, all throughout my relationship with Hip Hop, The Roots have always been there.  From The Hip Hop Night at the CNE (those who know…know), to the other four times I saw them perform at Guverment/Kaul Haus.  I have always been a fan of their music.  Now I know I’m not interviewing all of them in the video above, but damn! I got a chance to speak with Black Thought. Dope. GetTOknow Black Thought a little better.

Jay Electronica {ManifesTO 2010}

When I got into doing this sort of stuff, I never thought I would be asking questions with someone who I am quite a fan of.  I always had respect for his art and music.  Substance filled lyrics, rhyme schemes, delivery, wit, charm; Jay Electronica is in my opinion an ideal rapper.  Not because he’s ‘conscious rapper’, but because he’s an honest rapper.  After meeting him, my respect for him grew even stronger. However, seeing him amongst his fans, now that was seeing humility personified.  GetTOknow a little more about Jay Electronica.

Rich Kidd {T.O Meet N.Y. – ManifesTO 2010}

Met up with Rich Kidd outside T.O. Meet N.Y. – ManifesTO event. Rich Kidd is on a next level. I’m not sure if that statement speaks of his creativity or what strand of a particular tree is he under the influence of. Regardless, he is quite the character. We talked about everything. Literally. GetTOknow a little more about Rich Kidd.

Tanika Charles {ManifesTO 2010}

I had the pleasure of meeting a woman whom I’ve always heard about, but never knew a damn thing about, or what she looked like. Ain’t that crazy? After speaking with Ms. Tanika Charles, I left with a feeling of having obtained some sense of purpose in life. She is of ‘good peoples’ who make beautiful music. To know that I let you know a little bit more about Tanika, makes me feel just a little bit better about myself. GetTOknow Tanika Charles.

Crystal Waters {Ian Andre’s Amnesia 11th Year Anniversary}

Just recently I got to meet up with the legendary Crystal Waters at Ian Andre Espinet’s Amnesia 11th Year Anniversary. We talked about a whole bunch of things – Drake, her, me, her & me…together. Let me tell you something – Crystal Waters is no joke. If she’s a mom, she has to be one of the most talented, and most fittest MILFs in music. Period. If you didn’t know, then gettoknow a little more about Crystal Waters.
